MG Midget 1500

This charming MG Midget 1500 was originally sold new in the United States, with the first owner receiving the keys on June 30th, 1978. Twenty years later, the current owner purchased the car at an auction in Germany. It was registered in the Netherlands in May 1998. In the years that followed, the MG was restored. The bodywork was professionally repaired together with a trusted panel beater, and the car was resprayed in its original colour: MG British Racing Green.

The interior was also renewed at that time. The seats were upholstered in cognac-coloured vinyl, and light brown carpets were installed. The black vinyl soft-top was replaced, and a tonneau cover was added. Mechanically, the car was carefully inspected and serviced where needed. The gearbox was replaced in 2000 and later rebuilt in 2016. Around ten years ago, the body was resprayed once again in its original colour. There is some visible rust at the lower edge of the left-hand side fenders, but the rest of the body and undercarriage are solid.

This MG Midget has had only one Dutch owner since importation and has been meticulously maintained and inspected by a local garage in Enschede. It has always been stored indoors in a dry environment. The most recent technical inspection (APK) was carried out in February 2025 and is valid until March 2027. The car features matching numbers and benefits from an RDW exemption to use smaller US-style number plates.

This MG Midget 1500 drives and handles beautifully – it’s a joy to cruise along the scenic roads and countryside. Over the past 27 years, the owner has made unforgettable memories on road trips through Belgium and the UK. In recent years, the car has seen limited use, which is why it’s now time for a new enthusiast to enjoy it.

In June 2024, the car was professionally appraised for insurance purposes at €12,000. This beautiful MG Midget 1500 has been thoroughly inspected, fitted with a new battery, and comes with a recent inspection certificate – ready to be enjoyed immediately.
