Jaguar Mk. II
Jaguar Mk. II
During the 60’s, British roads where often the stage of cops pursuing bank robbers in high-speed chases. And regardless of which side of the law you happened to be on, this beautiful mid-sized luxury sports saloon was the preferred wagon of choice. This fast and capable saloon was the personification of Sir William Lyons advertising slogan of the 50’s: Grace… Space… Pace! One of the fastest four-door sedans available at the time, the Mk. II Jaguar offered everything an aspiring bank robber could ever want from a getaway car, masses of space for loot, and rocket ship pace to evade capture
The Jaguar Mark 2 was available with all three versions of the advanced Jaguar XK6 I6 engine, the 2.4, 3.4, and 3.8 liters. With the beautiful combination of wood and leather interior, you’ll feel like you’re stepping back in time to the 60s when you get behind the wheel.
The 3.4 liter had a top speed of about 193 km/h and could accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 9 seconds. It was also equipped with some advanced features for the time, such as independent suspension and disc brakes. It also had some unique features, such as the famous Jaguar grille and the characteristic “leaper” on the hood.
The car on offer is a very original example which has been maintained well. It was originally delivered in Switzerland, moved to America with its previous owner, and came to the Netherlands in 1995. All original receipts, invoices, and registration documents are present. It shows some signs of old age in the paint, chrome and rubber parts. This Jaguar has the following options:
- Speedhold; intermediate speed hold is a device to keep the 3-speed automatic transmission in the middle gear for better acceleration. It serves virtually the same function as a kickdown but is easier to control.
- Electric antenna.
- Hazard lights.
- Fog lights.
- E-type cylinder head.
- Twin SU carburettors.
Today, Jaguar Mk. II’s are highly sought-after by collectors and car enthusiasts alike for their classic design, powerful performance, and historical significance.
