The Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer (BB) is a car like no other. The Ferrari 512BB was produced by Ferrari in Italy from 1973 to 1984. The Production on the Ferrari BB was a major step for Enzo Ferrari as the car producer believed that his buyers wouldn’t be able to handle the power of a mid-engine layout. His engineers, however, impressed with the performance of other mid-engined cars convinced Enzo to produce a Ferrari with a mid-mounted flat-12. The Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer owes its 512 BB name to the car’s 5 litre, 12 cylinder engine.
The Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer was designed by Leonardo Fioravanti and served to be a ground-breaking model for Ferrari in more ways than one. The Ferrari BB was the first mid-engined road-car to bear the Ferrari name. Production started in 1976 and finished in 1981 with a total of 929 cars being built.
